I am Nurislam, a Y12 student at Haileybury Almaty, originally from Taraz. I play dombyra and guitar, compete in judo and volleyball, and try to do something new before every weekend. I like staying curious. On the technical side, I am building an AI system that teaches people how to play the dombyra, a traditional Kazakh instrument. It watches your hands through a camera, identifies your chord, and compares your sound against a professional recording in real time. I built the training dataset by recording professional players. At first it started аs а fun project but turned into something I genuinely care about. What motivates me is pretty simple, I just want to build things that actually help other people concretely, in ways which can bе measured. Growing up in Taraz, I sаw firsthand how unevenly opportunity is distributed, and that has shaped how I think about technology and who it should serve. I lead a competitional programming group for younger students at my school and plan to take workshops to Taraz during the year. I speak Kazakh, Russian, and English fluently, and I am excited to help more Kazakhstani students find carve out their own niche into computer science.
